History
Originally part of the same society which waved the spaceship Ciara, Jet left to pursue his own project, shortly before they launched. Working in the garden shed, he sought to build a spaceworthy hardsuit, in the style of the Knight Sabers.
However, he made two critical errors:
1: He used far too much Knight Saber imprint.
2: He stored his leftover handwavium in beer bottles where they could accidentally be drunk.
The resulting biomod was a complex interplay of human and machine. The ‘wavium had been imprinted to create a Knight Saber flying machine, and that’s exactly what it did with Jet’s body, altering it to fit and fuse with the original handwaved suit. It fed off some of Jets own ideas about creating original characters, mixed it with some animé recently watched and created something that looked like a cross between Nono of Diebuster, and all four Knight Sabers combined.
Taking the name Jet Jaguar first as a radio callsign, he taught himself to fly properly over the next few months, supporting himself with revenue from videos of flights through his hometown and further afield. He was forced to change his preferred pronoun usage by 'fans' who insisted ‘his’ adoption of the description ‘gynoid’ was some form of statement.
Eventually, she was forced to escape to orbit in early 2012 when the authorities finally cracked down on her flights, settling for a short while on Genaros where she worked maintaining the sprinkler systems.
Shortly after Operation Great Justice had begun Jet learned of the Panzer Kunst Gruppe from AC Peters, who was fitting her with a new set of engines. Jet originally only joined in order to learn how to properly control her own body, however she remained with the Gruppe after finding she enjoyed her training, making Geselle and getting her blades in January 2013. Jet spent the first part of the war running ultra secret communiqués between OGJ forces, mixed with a few intelligence ops. During this time she met Ford Sierra, pulling her from the battered wreckage of her car after a Boskonian attack.
After the battle SerenityCon, and being caught in the middle of the Kentucky Cat incident, Jet took over the leadership of the Engel Gruppe. For her first mission as Krieger. she led the Engels supporting an assault by Tango Shoes on Jusenkyou, along with a number of other operations in the run up to the fall of Boskone Prime.
With the war over, Jet remained with Great Justice for a number of years as a troubleshooter. Following her resignation after Operation Moreau, she was seconded by special request to the ‘Supers Rescue Services Group, as the Search element in a Search and Rescue team. A personality clash with a member of her team, which may have been exacerbated by her own tendencies, led to her leaving the team after only a few months.
Settling in LA and working in Hollywood for a time, Jet developed the Stingray hardsuit based off of plans in the Whole Fenspace Catalogue. Using far more Chunkytech in its design, the first model was built over the space of a year for Sierra. The pair carved out a niche for themselves in aerial filming, capturing shots that conventional aircraft couldn’t. The plans for the hardsuit were released publicly under an open-source license, Jet having little or no intention to become tied to a workbench building them to order, or bothering with all the legal fuss involved in licensing.
Annoyances from the local authorities, FAA bureaucracy, and a news commentator with an agenda, led to Jet finally taking up a standing offer of employment from the Roughriders in late 2019. Whether Jet will move her official address from Genaros to 36 Atalante hasn't been decided yet, she's waiting to see how well this goes before getting too comfortable.
While with the Roughriders, Jet spends her time between combat operations alongside the A-team, scheduling joint operations and training between the Roughriders and the Panzer Kunst Gruppe, and doing occasional work on 37-Fides with Sierra. Jet was responsible for hardsuits worn by the A-Team and for the JF-21 series prototype, which she built when Ben told her she needed a spacecraft of her own for practicality reasons. She hates flying in it... despite it not even having a cockpit canopy. In general, Jet likes getting out and about flying around Fenspace. She finds it annoying when she's forced to stay on Atalante through solar flare, or being stuck on-call.
Jet hopes one day to fly to Starbase 2 under her own power.
Factions:
Fendane, Operation Great Justice, Panzer Kunst Gruppe, Roughriders (2019 onwards).
Appearance
Jet is tall and 'apparently' female, with shoulder length deep-red hair. Most of her body is encased in white armour with blue accents, similar in style to a Knight Saber hardsuit. On her back are a pair of wings, and a pair of scanner antennae which retract into a backpack where her main engine is mounted. Her legs below the knee are a little longer than natural, to accommodate an extra pair of boosters Jet uses to help her maneuver in vacuum. Jet usually wears a helmet in space, though doesn't need to. Jet's Panzer Kunst markings where engraved directly into her armour.
In combat, Jet usually mounts a pair of patterned Damascus blades on her forearms, along with a holster for either a modified Desert Eagle or Auto-Nine, and a pouch where she carries equipment for the mission at hand. Jet also wears the same eye-black as other Kunstler.
Mundane Attributes:
One Track Mind: Rather than exploring multiple solutions or ideas, Jet has a tendency to lock onto one and pursue it even when it is clear to her that other options might be better. At the extreme, this can lead to a bloody minded perseverance to making something work, even when the concept is inherently flawed in some way.
Pronoun trouble: Jet refers to herself as a ‘gynoid’, making a clear distinction between herself as a cyborg only modelled to look female, and an actual female. Naturally, nobody understands her, or insists she’s making a feminist statement or any number of a hundred other things. She’s given up arguing over it...there’s only so many times you can tolerate being corrected after ticking the ‘M’ box, before you just give up and let them have their way. He appreciates when people get it right.
In the eye of the beholder: Jet is quite content with her biomod and cybernetics, despite what most other people would think. On the other hand, she is noticeably squicked by certain types of anthromorphs.
The Golden Rule: A consequence of the Kentucky Cat Incident. Jet refuses to build any hardware with an AI, including spacecraft. When asked why, she answers that she wouldn't want to be stuck inside a spaceraft's computer, so why would she force that on any AI? Most vehicle-based AI's find this a bit strange.
Armoured artist: A member of the Panzer Kunst Gruppe, Jet is trained to fight using her cybernetics to her advantage against other cyber’d opponents, including powered armour wearers.
Brilliant, but Lazy : Had things worked out differently, Jet might have become a well-known gearhead. That changed the moment she found she could fly. The lure of open skies is a powerful distraction, however Jet still shows occasional flashes of her technical nous, notably developing the Mark 2 hardsuits and the JF-21.
Keeping my Feet on the Ground: Her girlfriend, Ford Sierra helps keep her grounded in reality and humanity.
Handwavium Abilities:
I am my Ride: Jet is her own spacecraft, equipped with a speed-drive on her back, and later one in each of her feet. She has full navigation, radar, life support, radio and cellular links integrated into her body and won’t suffocate if she removes her helmet in space. Her armour is designed to be resistant to orbital debris, and so is naturally pretty bulletproof. As it was originally designed to be a powered suit, it’s fitted with strength boosting actuators, allowing Jet to upend a decent sized family car, if she tries.
Ave Machina(a): High level cybernetics allow Jet to communicate digitally over interwave with either other cyborgs, or any AI. Many artificial components can be repaired, replaced, rebuilt or upgraded by anyone with a good competency in cybernetics and a working knowledge of her systems.
Live to Fly: The handwavium was imprinted to make a flying machine, and that’s just what it made Jet’s body. Her body is adapted for high speed, high impact aerial work. Her skeleton is reinforced and braced, and her body chemistry altered to enable her to sustain much higher G-forces and harder impacts than a normal human....to a point. Her reaction times and eyesight are markedly above human norms, while her sense of taste, hearing and smell are best characterised as normal.
Quirks:
Fly to Live: Jet’s armour is a physical part of her, with her biology being adapted to fit the original armour design. This causes her any number of problems. Some are just annoying, like when her she forgets to retract her wings before going through a narrow doorway, others can be far more personal and heartbreaking.
Ave Machina(b) : Cybernetics require regular maintenance, preferably from someone she trusts. Software must be updated, and structural elements have to be checked for fatigue issues, actuators have to be lubricated and properly adjusted. Ignoring this increases the risk of a malfunction ranging from the irritating, to potentially deadly.
To Touch the Stars: Jet hates being cooped up inside a spacecraft. The smaller the craft, the more uneasy and restless she’ll be. If at all possible, she will fly to her destination under her own power.
Crunchy: Jet is not a full-body cyber-conversion, she’s still mostly biological inside her armour. Anything strong enough to penetrate her armour is more than capable of doing her a serious injury.
Face to Face: With most of her body covered by armour, the only place she can truly feel the touch of another is on her face, which is still bare skin. Even a gentle touch on the cheek is a special gesture for her, when the limit of her intimacy is a shared kiss.
